i am super excited about it. the three of us rarely get good pictures together and i want some pretty ones to put in frames at home and one for my office. mommy and babysis are the two most important women in my life and while pictures are just paper, i love having pictures of my important people!
here's the question...what should we wear? i don't want to be too matchy matchy, like a family christmas card shot, but i do think we should be somewhat coordinated.
we will likely have the shoot at our marina, so the scenery looks like this:

so, we've got perfect locations, but what to wear? i want to be casual, but i don't want the "family in white and jeans or chinos on the beach" look. so sorry if this is your family, that look just isn't us.
google "family beach pictures" and literally hundreds of these photos come up. all the same. all cheesy.
so, what should we wear?

How about different brightly colored sundresses? Ones that coordinate (obviously you don't want to clash). Or, different shades of a color like blue or pink...maybe someone with a pattern, but in the same color.
Wow- I can't believe so many people do the white shirt by the beach routine. That is crazy!
I'm getting engagement pictures done this weekend, so I'm curious to see what your readers say. I have such a hard time picking out an outfit that is classic but at the same time interesting! Sundresses sound good to me.
I was gonna say sundresses too! Or, an outfit of your choice but in the same "family" of colors. Can't wait to see what you come up with... and the results!

I don't think you ladies should plan to match, unless your natural styles tend to be similar. I think if each wear something you are comfortable in then you'll look lovely and radiant and the pictures will be much more natural!

I think you should decide on a similar palette of few color options and then do something in each of your own unique styles. That way, you won;t clash, but you won't be matchy-matchy either and you'll all look like...YOU!

I also adore the brightly colored sun dresses idea! If you want to match somewhat, get the same dress in different colors. OR...what about J.Crew dresses in the same color, different style? Hmmm...or is that to bridesmaidy?
